Waffles are just the best, aren't they?! This was one of those what-do-I-have-in-the-fridge/pantry type of recipes. And you know me, I went searching for the waffle iron and the key ingredients to make a bad ass waffle.
I don't like to do anything 'to the book' you could say so with this recipe I threw together ingredients that are on the healthier side. I always try to add more fiber, and micronutrients to a recipe so the macros are more friendly. With this waffle recipe I added chia, flaxseed and strawberries for more fiber and added in Nutristat Strawberry Silk protein powder.
It is definitely a more on the hearty, less sweet side for a waffle, but delicious all the same. Try throwing some vanilla greek yogurt, peanut butter or honey on it for extra sweetness.
