• Sweat Log

This past week was a little bit slower than the previous week for my workouts. I worked a lot and was on my feet all day everyday, and as a result my workouts were not as intense because I was physically and emotionally exhausted. Nevertheless I still gave it my all and hustled to break a sweat. Here is what I did: Monday: ATO workout I only had one hour to workout so I made the most of it! I did a full body workout that left me out of breath and sweating in about 45 minutes. 4 Sets total: 10 calorie assault runner treadmill heavy carry (w/ 20lb dumbbells)…

  • Kale Lemon Pistachio Salad

I love a good summer salad. Actually I am obsessed. When it's so hot outside I stay away from cooking indoors and tend to try to load up on fresh fruits and veggies. Any time I can make an excuse for adding various fruits and vegetables AND nuts into my salad, I am into it. Plus a little bit of fresh squeezed lemon?! Yes please. Whenever I go to the grocery store and day dream about all of the delicious recipe possibilities there are out. And I often find myself lost in the produce isle on Pinterest looking at recipe ideas. Anyone else? I feel like it is my life…

  • Peanut Butter + Berry Smoothie

Berry smoothies are my jam in the summer! I love anything that has peanut butter on it and this smoothie hits the spot with its frozen berries and nutty taste. I used a chocolate peanut butter protein powder that hits the spot. I have been eating them for breakfast or for a post workout snack. And they are truly a great replacement for ice cream. I paired them with my favorite fiber GG Scandinavian crackers. These fiber crackers don't taste like much of anything on their own but they sure taste good with a smoothie and some added peanut butter. I like to buy big bags of organic frozen fruit…

  • Rise Nation: Becoming an Instructor

My road to becoming an instructor at Rise Nation Colorado began several months ago. Back in April I stumbled upon a new gym being built in our neighborhood in the same location a little canvas and cocktails place used to be. It was conveniently located next to a Lululemon (which I have to walk past with blinders on), and just a few blocks from our house. I reached out to them and it turned out they were hiring instructors for not only that location but there were also two other locations in the works. For those of you who don't know, Rise Nation is a company and fitness concept created…

  • Sweat Log

What a week. This week's workouts were a little more low key. I wasn't interested in lifting heavy and my body wanted more cardio, so that's what I did. It is also tough for me to be inside on warm, sunny summer days. Here is what I did this week:   Monday: Upper body high rep workout at ATO Fitnesss.  I worked out with a client of mine and we did several supersets of arms. Here is what we did: Seated neutral grip row x 25 reps superset with wide grip lat pull down x 25 reps for 3 sets Standing barbell military press x 25 reps superset with standing dumbbell…

  • Chia Seed Strawberry Protein Waffle

Waffles are just the best, aren't they?! This was one of those what-do-I-have-in-the-fridge/pantry type of recipes. And you know me, I went searching for the waffle iron and the key ingredients to make a bad ass waffle. I don't like to do anything 'to the book' you could say so with this recipe I threw together ingredients that are on the healthier side. I always try to add more fiber, and micronutrients to a recipe so the macros are more friendly. With this waffle recipe I added chia, flaxseed and strawberries for more fiber and added in Nutristat Strawberry Silk protein powder. It is definitely a more on the hearty,…

  • Sweat Log

Here is my weekly sweat log from last week. All of my workouts from Monday through Saturday are in here. I also got at least 10,000 steps logged (including these workouts) on my fitbit. I try to add variety to my workouts during the week. When I was competing in my bikini competitions I was forced to stick to a strict regimen and it took me a while to bounce back and enjoy workouts after that. Now I find myself craving variety and outdoor workouts with the weather being nice and all. I was also on vacation towards the end of the week so my workouts were a little less…

  • Cashew Chocolate Chip Energy Balls

I am all about easy snacks on the go that are nutrient packed, and these cashew chocolate chip balls are absolutely amazing! They are full of natural ingredients, health fats and protein and of course carbs with added fiber. That means net carbs guys, yay! I have been making energy balls for a few years now but this particular recipes I made for a networking event I did back in January. They were a huge hit. They didn't form quite as well as we liked but hey, sometimes you need a little more cashew butter. I've never tasted anything that had too much cashew butter. I also used the mini…
