• Cashew Chocolate Chip Energy Balls

I am all about easy snacks on the go that are nutrient packed, and these cashew chocolate chip balls are absolutely amazing! They are full of natural ingredients, health fats and protein and of course carbs with added fiber. That means net carbs guys, yay! I have been making energy balls for a few years now but this particular recipes I made for a networking event I did back in January. They were a huge hit. They didn't form quite as well as we liked but hey, sometimes you need a little more cashew butter. I've never tasted anything that had too much cashew butter. I also used the mini…

  • Staying Healthy During Quarantine

It seems like we have been in Quarantine for 6 months, but I think we just hit that two month mark. The world is crazy right now. Honestly, the stay at home order has not changed my personal lifestyle that much. I still wake up at 4:40am and go to work at the hospital. The only thing that has really changed for me is that now I am not going to F45 2-3 times per week. I am not going out on the weekends with friends. I have more facetime/zoom/houseparty app calls but that's about it. Actually, being somewhat isolated between work and home has helped my social anxiety. I…

  • Healthy Peanut Butter Balls

Peanut butter balls are so nostalgic, aren't they? Every year around the Christmas time I feel like I look forward to these treats. I remember my Mom making them when I was very little and we still make them on an annual basis. This year I flew home to Massachusetts before Christmas and made about 2 dozen of them. Interestingly enough, the next morning I came down to see 8 of them missing. Yes, in the middle of the night, my father came into the kitchen and ate 8 of my preciously made peanut butter balls. Oh well. But this year I had the idea to try and invent a…

  • The Food That Fights Inflammation

Let's talk inflammation. We all know inflammation isn't a good word but do we know what causes it and how it can be prevented and decreased through food? I think we should chat about it. Someone asked me while I was coaching at F45 recently if I could talk about it and I was already planning on doing a post this week. I want to talk about this because I think many people do not realize their body is inflamed because they are used to feeling a certain way. But there are tactics to help  you fight this inflammation and save your body's energy for a better use. Without getting…

  • Hemp Hearty Granola

Boy has it been a chilly one in Denver the past few days. Has any one else had trouble leaving their house in the snow? I love snow, don't get me wrong, and I grew up with lots of snow in Massachusetts, so I obviously own a vehicle that can dominate in the snow (a jeep, duh). I literally don't shovel my driveway (I never have) and just fly out of the driveway with my four wheel drive. Funny story actually, when I was going to college in Rhode Island I had an apartment that shared a driveway with three other people. At one point I had to borrow one…

  • Update: Life Changes

Life is constantly changing. Every. Single. Day. I realized that I haven't written or posted anything on here since early August! Wow, time really flies. A part of me is sorry that I haven't written on here in a while, but another part of me doesn't care for a few reasons. This website will always be here, social media will probably always be here (unless an apocalypse happens anytime soon). I wanted to spend more time in the moment, work on my personal and professional life for a hot second. I needed a break from all of it, so I took one. I needed to re-prioritize, so I did. One…

  • Sweat Log

My schedule has been so crazy busy and this past week was my third week at my new job. I got a new job at a diet office in a hospital and it is getting my even more fired up about nutrition. As a result my workouts have changed a little bit and have been put on the back burner. However, I have been consistently keeping track of everything because I feel like it holds me accountable. Even if no one ever reads this I still have my workouts documented so if I want to go back and reference them I can. This week's sweat log is actually a combination…

  • Mango Summer Salsa

Tell me, what is better than a super ripe mango?! Especially in Mexico or on a tropical island. When I made this salsa I imagined eating it on the beach somewhere with a bowl of fresh made guacamole and a few lime wedges. Right?! Delicious. In reality, when I thought of this recipe idea I was roaming through the grocery store without my significant other (he likes to sprint through the store, I am more of a marathon wanderer when it comes to food shopping, I love to spend my own sweet time there). I stumbled upon a few very ripe mango and had the idea. I love eating raw…

  • Sweat Log

This past week has been so crazy because I started a new job. Hence my late post. Yay! But with that my hours have been nuts and since I am still coaching at multiple places I've had less time and energy to workout on my own. Welcome to the real world Kenz. Here are my workouts from this week. Per usual I went steady and strong at the beginning of the week and then took my rest days towards the end of the week. Hopefully you can get some workout ideas from this! Monday: ATO Fitness HIIT Circuit. I only had 30 minutes to workout before a personal training client…

  • Green Delicious Smoothie

Alright! Time for another smoothie. And to be specific, a Green Delicious Smoothie. See what I did there? Not a red delicious but a green delicious (this smoothie has nothing to do with apples). Sometimes I try to be more clever and funny than I actually am. My Mom is the only one who thinks I am funny, thanks Mom. Anyways, I am continuing my smoothie kick because why not?!? I feel like when I want something sweet but know I shouldn't have ice cream a smoothie is a good substitute. It's cold and creamy and can satisfy that sweet tooth. I am always trying to find ways to sneak…

  • Sweat Log

Monday: Crossfit Broadway workout. 6 Min AMRAP: 12 calorie row and 7 Devils press 6 Min AMRAP: 10 chest to bar pull-ups (I did kipping pull-ups) and 18 wall balls (14lb ball) Repeat 2x. OUCH. This was a tough one, I was sweating balls by the time I was done. I made it 3 rounds the first and second time on the first AMRAP and then only 2 rounds on the second part both times. I ended up ripping my hands pretty bad and they started bleeding from hanging from the bar. Tuesday: Armbrust Pro Gym leg workout with a girlfriend. We did a leg workout that was similar to…
